Hey everyone.Hope you're all having a lovely break. I'm definitely missing choir every time we roll round to another Monday.
Attached is the set list for our St.Albans concert. 13 numbers may seem slightly short for 1 hour, but remember thata couple of them are medley's which (even with the cuts) are quite long. It's made up of songs we've done from before, as well as some of the new ones we've been working on so it should bea nice showcase for friends and family/the punters even if they've seen us before!Take a little look through them over the summer, and come back first Monday of September with them all in your books,in set list order please so we can start running through them.Nothing here will surprise any of us, and it'll just be a case of spending our 3 sessions before the concert polishing them upand fixing any little harmony bits etc that we come across. After the concert on the 21st, the Monday rehearsal that follows (23rd September) would be very nice to have a little catch upwith everyone like we did in our old venue, but we can't really do that in the church. Let me know if anyone can think of somewherewe can go and bring some nibbles etc.The last two Monday's of September will be entirely choir chosen for our material. I'll pop a poll by email and in the whatsapp of a bunch of songs to sing, and we'll sing through the most popular over those two weeks. Two big sessions of singing, with very little detailed work on them. This, of course, is to brace us for the TWO MONTHS of Xmas work that is to follow. Rest assured, I will break up these sessions with non-xmasmusic!We will hit the ground running in October with the Christmas concert music and work on it right up untilthe concert in December. It will be similar to last year's music, as well as the two new charts I wrote, as well as one new one that nearlywon the popularity vote last year. I believe it was Sleigh ride but I'll double check. It might seem like a long time, but those sessions will fly by and the 4 weeks we had last year was not enough to be comfortable for all of us.
Can't wait to see everyone on September 2nd!Best
Artie
