Wilmslow and Hale - Week Beginning 31/8/26

WE ARE BACK!!! 🎉🎶

Hi everyone - Please read through to the end...Lots of important Info.

First up, I hope you've all had a fantastic Summer break and enjoyed some of the lovely sunny weather we've had! ☀️

It feels like ages since we've all been together, but Magic Voices is BACK this week!!! Wilmslow on Tuesday and Hale on Thursday, and I'm really excited to get us all singing again!

We're not easing ourselves in gently... we're starting TWO BRAND NEW SONGS! 🎶

🎭 COME FROM AWAY MEDLEY

This is a brand new arrangement from Andy and I can't begin to tell you how much I absolutely LOVE it! (Thanks Nick from our Wilmslow choir for the great suggestion!)

Come From Away tells the true story of thousands of airline passengers who unexpectedly found themselves stranded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, in the days following 9/11, and the extraordinary kindness shown to them by the local community.

Our medley brings together two fantastic songs from the show, with some absolutely gorgeous harmonies. I'll tell you a little more about the story and what we're actually singing about when we're together this week, because I think knowing the context makes the music even more special.

✨ WHEN YOU BELIEVE – THE PRINCE OF EGYPT

Our second new song is another brand new Andy arrangement: When You Believe from The Prince of Egypt.

It's a beautiful, uplifting song about hope, courage and believing that something extraordinary can happen even when things seem impossible. It's a huge song with some fantastic opportunities for us to create that big Magic Voices sound, and I am really looking forward to seeing what we do with it!

👋 We'll also be welcoming lots of new faces!

As it's the start of September, we'll have tasters joining us over the next couple of weeks, so you may notice a few RESERVED signs dotted around near the front. That's simply so I can get our new people sitting amongst everyone and feeling part of the choir from the moment they arrive.

I already know you'll do what you always do and make anyone sitting near you feel incredibly welcome. 😊

Don't forget that regardless if you belong to Wilmslow or Hale, you're always welcome at either session. In fact, if you fancy coming to both this week, please do. We can always do with more men at ale too. The more voices we have in the room, particularly while we're welcoming new people, the better! Bringing new people into the group is such an important part of keeping our choirs busy, thriving and full of life.

🎄 CHRISTMAS IS COMING...

I know, I know... we're only just coming back from the summer but hear me out...! 😂

From next week, preparations begin for our big Christmas Concert at St Peter's Church in Hale! 🎄✨

This is going to be a really beautiful Christmas concert, combining some of our favourite repertoire with Christmas music. There'll also be opportunities for solos and duets, and Andy is currently working on some brand new Christmas material for us too!

So once we're back, we're very much full steam ahead towards Christmas!

🎭 SOMETHING BIG COMING IN 2027...

We also now have a BIG concert planned for June 5th 2027 involving Wilmslow, Hale and Marple.

I'm not going to bombard you with all the details in our first email back 😂, but I'll be telling you much more about that over the coming weeks. It's going to give us something really exciting to work towards!

👑 IMPORTANT: THIS SATURDAY 5th - ASHLEY ROSE QUEEN

Don't forget, this Saturday we'll be performing at the Rose Queen event at St Elizabeth's in Ashley.

This performance is open to Wilmslow, Hale AND Marple, and we're deliberately keeping the programme to songs everybody knows really well, so it should be a really enjoyable one.

SATURDAY'S SET LIST:

Shine

Dancing Through Life

Electricity

From Now On

Dancing Queen

Waterloo

Go The Distance

This Is Me

One Day More

To get us ready, we'll have a sing through of some of Saturday's songs during our rehearsals this week, so please bring everything above!

So there we go... two brand new songs, new members joining us, a performance this Saturday, Christmas preparations about to begin AND a big 2027 concert on the horizon...And we haven't even mentioned ABBEY ROAD!!!! 😅🎶

It's going to be a busy few months, but I think it's going to be a really exciting time for our choirs.

I've really missed singing with you all and I'm SO looking forward to getting everybody back together!

See you Tuesday, Wilmslow!See you Thursday, Hale!

And if I see some of you at BOTH... even better! 🎶

Mike 🙂
